We got the chance to showcase our active and creative outdoor play to the Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Dame Janet Trotter, helped by 75 school children! Working alongside our friends from Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust who organised this event, we put on a special den building and giant bubble making morning with pupils and staff from Harewood Junior School at the fabulous Robinswood Hill, Gloucester. For those of you that don’t know, Robinswood Hill is the jewel in Gloucester’s green spaces crown. From the top beacon, there are wonderful views of the City, and all for free – thoroughly recommended by our Rangers!

We provided den building on a large scale for this event as pupils made, extended, decorated and flattened dens and generally had some great outdoor play. A humid day helped the production of some giant bubbles and Dame Janet seemed very impressed with the activities provided.

A teacher from Harewood Junior School told us that the activities had been an eye opener for her, as pupils that have struggled in the indoor classroom, became leaders in the outdoor classroom.
